SFOA Board Meeting Minutes 3-5-07-6:00PM
Present: Kenny Lamb, John Krentzman, Dick Redmond, Ed Sullivan, Steve Patterson, Guy Spiros, Reggie Smith
Absent: Joe Magadino,
Meeting held at 6:00PM at Ed Sullivans office
Discussed memo received from Seminole H. S. chain crew member Bob Grant. Mr. Grant complained that with the chain crew operating off the sideline there is difficulty moving the chains/box without making contact with the sideline players. He would like to move the chains back to the sideline which of course is impossible. Kenny Lamb is to talk with coach Roper about solving this situation.
John Krentzman prepared a letter and a release form to be sent to Southeast H.S. along with the agreed to check to settle the missed game. Kenny signed the letter and will mail it.
John Davis, head football coach at Countryside H S, contracted Kenny Lamb about a freshman football possibility for Pinellas public schools. The proposed games would be at 6:00PM, preceding JV games, and would be played with a running clock and 10 minute quarters. This is in the preliminary planning stages and would require approval by Pinellas school administration. Coach Davis will be invited to present the proposed freshman agenda to the SFOA general membership if favorable approval is received from school administration.
The two youth football organizations have not been invoiced for 2006 booking fees. Ed Sullivan is to invoice PYFC for $250 and SYFC for $512.
It was noted that there was an error in the announced youth game fees in the Board meeting minutes of 2/19/06. The proposed youth football game fees for 2007 are as follows:
7 or 8 minute quarter games: $35.00
9 or 10 minute quarter games: $40.00
All clocks $20.00
PYFC flag games: $20.00 field official and $15.00 clock operator
It was decided that the preferences of all SFOA “8” rated officials regarding refereeing varsity games should be determined. Dick Redmond is to email these officials and find out who would like to be a crew referee, a pool game referee, or not interested in regularly refereeing varsity contests.
Discussion of ways to improve the general membership meetings took place. This is an ongoing action. Board members are to come up with suggestions.
Kenny Lamb will contact Bayshore H S to determine if there is an interest in using SFOA officials.
Obtaining copies of 2006 contracts has not been accomplished. Kenny Lamb is to contact 2006 SFOA Secretary to obtain these.
Contact with Palmetto H S to offer our officiating services has not yet been made. Ed Sullivan is to contact this school.
Contact with FHSAA is to be made week of 3/5/07 regarding obtaining permission for spring scrimmages between schools. Kenny Lamb to contact Gary Pigott .
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM.
