SFOA BOARD MEETING 3-10-2008
SFOA 3/10/08 Board Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Ed Bates, David Barber, Dick Redmond, Ed Sullivan, Guy Spiros, Steve Patterson,Randy Helms,Gail Blanton, Ray Glen
Meeting called to order at 6:30 PM.
Dick Redmond read the Board Meeting Minutes from the 2/11/08 meeting. They were accepted by the Board.
Ed Sullivan gave a treasurers reports for January and February 2008 which were accepted. Moving the SFOA bank account where free banking is available was discussed. A motion was passed to move the account. Ed Sullivan stated that he would email the board members a proposed budget for 2008.
The Recommendation committee for Flag Football was selected. Committee is Gail Blanton, Chairman, Dick Redmond, and Ed Sullivan. This committee will select the playoff crews.
Evaluation and Ranking committee board liason, Dave Barber is to continue to prepare ratings , etc for all SFOA members. This information is to be available to each member.
Training-Ray Glenn is looking into obtaining a Federation Rules video for training.
By-Laws-Guy Spiros is to head up a by-laws evaluation committee to determine any changes that may be needed.
Obtaining additional schools was discussed. River Ridge was contacted and they stated that they will stay with their current officials association. No response has been received from Palmetto H. S. Dave Barber is to contact their coach to determine if they are interested in using SFOA as their officials organization.
Ed Sullivan and Randy Helms are to look into an SFOA night at a Rays game.
The cost of operating SFOA was discussed and it was determined that the dues for the association should be set at $25.00 for 2008.
The Board reviewed the penalty the 2006 Board ruled against Gail Blanton for failing to book the 2006 Southeast vs Lakewood Ranch game. The Randy Helms presented the Grievance Committee recommendation that the fine was excessive since there were no fine guidelines. Also, the maximum FHSAA fine is $250. The Grievance committee recommended a $100 fine and a reprimand. The Board voted 7-0 with 1 abstention to impose the fine proposed by the Grievance Committee.
